20 As soon as Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet Him. But Mary remained seated in the house.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died. 22 Yet even now I know that whatever You ask from God, God will give You.”

23 “Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her.

24 Martha said, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. 26 Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die—ever. Do you believe this?”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she told Him, “I believe You are the Messiah, the Son of God, who comes into the world.”

Jesus wants you to know that your miracle can happen today, RIGHT NOW. In verse 24, Martha is showing an attitude that believers sometimes display in tough times. We comfort ourselves by thinking well, I'm still going to Heaven so I guess I'm fine. We accept our current circumstances but on the inside we're wishing God had done something to make it better. God wants to work in our hurt RIGHT NOW. Martha had a wake up call in the middle of the conversation because in her pain she seems to have forgotten who Jesus is and what he can do. Verse 20 shows that her sister Mary was so upset that she didn't even go out to meet Jesus. Sometimes we get so caught up in our circumstances that we don't even realize Jesus is at the door of our heart, ready to fix it. We fixate on shoulda, coulda, wouldas when the giver of life is in our own home.

In this story, Jesus was so angry at the hold of sin and death on his people that he brought Lazarus back to life before he was arrested, crucified, buried and resurrected. Yes, everything will be perfect in Heaven but we don't need to wait for that glorious day for Jesus to bring something back to life. Just like he called into the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus is calling into the depth of your heart commanding it to come back to life. Jesus is commanding your marriage to come back to life RIGHT NOW. Jesus is commanding your finances to come back to life RIGHT NOW. Jesus is commanding your self-worth to come back to life RIGHT NOW.

After Lazarus rose from the dead, Jesus commanded that his burial clothes be removed.  "Loose him and let him go." Jesus is telling the death, decay, despair, disappointment, depression and disease in your life to let you go. Be free. Right now.
